There are many options available for getting from an airport into the city; train, bus, taxi, uber etc etc… so what do you do?!
On a recent trip to Bucharest, I wanted a reliable transfer into the city for my Mum and me, but I wasn’t sure that I would have cash for a taxi and didn’t want to wait for an uber as I had heard that these were not as reliable as at home.
I had heard of Blacklane before but never used them, so decided to give them a go. The really simple booking process meant I had a car booked from the airport to the hotel for €30. I know that I could have found this for this a lot cheaper with a local taxi, but it was a price I was happy with.
On departure from London, we were delayed over an hour, so I sent a Facebook message to Blacklane which was answered in minutes with an updated collection time and reassurance that the driver was monitoring the flight number.
When we arrived into Bucharest, our driver was waiting with a sign for us, and took us out to a Mercedes E280. The first thing he said to us was “Welcome to Romania!” which was lovely.
The journey in took about 40 minutes and the service was so good that we booked our return trip.
Blacklane earns Miles & More credit with Lufthansa at the rate of 4 miles per £/€/$.
I won’t be using them in NYC or London, as the alternatives are as good and cheaper, but I would highly recommend looking at them if you need a transfer.
